Empiezo con una nueva adicción. El Twitter. He discutido mucho al respecto. Sostengo que Twitter sería infinitamente más divertido si uno tuviera un gadget con el cual estar conectado a toda hora y desde todo lugar (léase un iPhone, Blackberry, etc.). Mis post en Twitter, a diferencia de los de otras personas, dan una idea clara de lo mediocre y anodina que es mi vida. (“Leo A farewell to arms en una edición pirata”, “Compro boletos para el concierto de Metallica del día 6”, “Hoy comencé una nueva novela”, etc.). Lo que encuentro más morboso e interesante, en cambio, es el momento de stalkear a algunos de mis contactos preferidos. Kareem Abul Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal twittean con la misma frecuencia que lo hacen Ashton Kutchner, Paris Hilton o un sospechoso homónimo de Michel Houellebecq (este último mi twitteador favorito hasta ahora; mientras que a Kutchner, con más de un millón de seguidores, lo agregué luego de enterarme de que su pareja Demi Moore estaba molesta con él por haber subido un video de ella en calzones, o algo, que repitiera la proeza). Decepcionan, sin embargo, los post de John Favreau y Guadalupe Loaeza, de quien uno esperaría más ingenio o al menos una ocurrencia. No creo que ni Biz Stone ni Evan Williams, los geeks que desarrollaron Twitter, se imaginaran que su herramienta, tan elemental como un micro-blog de no más de 140 caracteres y básicamente texto, se convirtiera en una de las redes sociales más extensas y de mayor poder expansivo del planeta. Éstos son algunos de los twits recientes de varios de mis contactos. Algunos, como en el caso de Houellebecq (que sospecho que es uno apócrifo), son prácticamente haikus: “Bourbon and diazepam. TV on static.”, “Met this university student in a nightclub, half-slept through a boring blowjob.”, “My ejaculate smells like ammonia. Must've drank last night.”.
